Barryroe 2-11  Kilbrittain 1-7

A gusty Spring Sunday morning saw Barryroe Intermediate hurlers welcome near neighbours Kilbrittain in the third round of the hurling League. To use the cliche, it was definitely 'a game of two halves' with a strong gale blowing diagonally down the pitch toward the dressing rooms and with underfoot conditions also difficult after the rains of winter had made a return in the preceding two days. In the first-half, Kilbrittain had the benefit of the wind, but despite amassing 10 wides could only garner a score of 1-4 to 1-2 at the short whistle. In truth the wind made shooting a lottery on the day.  Barryroe were first on the scoreboard when after a great run by Daniel O Driscoll, Brendan Coleman was on hand to kick to the net. This was immediately followed by a David O'Sullivan point to give Barryroe the early initiative. Thereafter it was backs to the wall as Kilbrittain dominated, scoring a soft goal that went all the way to the net from an eighty metre free.  A further point from Gearoid Whelton closed the scoring at the break.

Barryroe were out of the blocks quickly in the second-half with scores from David O'Sullivan and Gearoid Whelton to leave it at 1-5 to 1-4, before a great point from Brendan Coleman followed by a goal from the same player gave Barryroe a lead which they never lost.  Further points from Gearoid Whelton, Mark Crowley and Tadhg Harrington had the score at 2-11 to 1-6, when a late 21-yard free from Kilbrittain flashed over the bar. Final score 2-11 to 1-7.
