Ballinascarthy, 11:00AM

Barryroe Vs Ballinscarthy U14 League. First game of the season.

Barryroe U14 girls began their season with a trip to Ballinscarthy on Saturday morning.  Whilst we didn’t have the lovely sunshine that was around earlier in the week, it was dry, always a good start.

This was the first u14 outing for a lot of our girls while we were missing a few of our more seasoned 14 year olds. It was all systems go from the whistle with both teams in for some strong tackles and trying to mark their opponents. Ballinscarthy were first to score after 12 minutes with a goal followed shortly after with a point. Claire Dullea in goal for the first half did super for her first day out under 14 and played great in the second half when she came outfield. Barryroe girls were getting into their stride at this stage and found the goal with a super shot from Saphira (she was on a roll today). Good play from Jessica and Ciara in around midfield were  keeping us in the game, but the Ball girls got a sneaky goal just before half time 2-1 to 1-0.

Second half saw Claire Tobin in goal. We got off to a great start, with the forwards Roisin, Eimear Chloe & Saphira all on the goal mouth trying to get it in. After a scuffle, Saphira  got it into the net. It was then Ballinscarthy turn to get into their stride, their forwards had some great play a scored a quick goal and few points. Aine, Eva & Naomi were kept busy in the backs as were Lauren & Chloe trying to get it up to the forwards. Our subs – Charlene, Chloe & Holly, came on and gave it their all, but it was to be Ballinscarthys day, however as we could not convert our chances to scores, while they were more accurate with their shots.  Finished 6-4- 2-0.

Team: Chloe Collins, Eva Scallan Dowd, Saphira Ruprecht, Naomi Murphy, Jessica McCarthy, Ciara Collins, Charlene Companjen, Claire Tobin, Chloe Holland, Eimear Sheehy, Aine Moloney, Claire Dullea, Lauren Tobin, Roisin McCarthy & Holly Collins.
