Brinny, 15:00PM

Dripsey had a great start to this intermediate hurling championship game in Brinny as the went 1-1 to 0-0 ahead within four minutes of a strangly low key first half. John O'Dononan opened our account on five minutes with a free, Adrian Fleming had a point from play and John O'Donovan pointed his second free. Tadgh Harrington won both frees. Dripsey then added two points before Kieran Griffin, Adrian Fleming and another John O'Donovan free brought us level in the 16th minute, 6pt to 1-3.

The Mid Cork side tacked on two more points, before Ger Coleman had a fine point from play, but two more Dripsey points and another John O'Donovan free left us two points adrift at the break, 8 pts to 1-7.

Kieran Griffin drew first blood for us after the interval, Brinny then had a goal disallowed for a square ball, before a long range Tadge Harrington free brought us level again.

Kieran Griffin cancelled out a Dripsey point, before we hit the front for the first time in the game with a John O'Donovan free on 45 minutes, 12 pts to 1-8.

By now we were getting some change out of the Dripsey back line. We isolated them one on on and our pacey forwards began to thrive. Mike O'Brien raced through for a fine goal and when he was fouled a minute later, John O'Donovan's free, took us 6 clear, 1-14 to 1-8. Dripsey had points in the 50th and 51st minutes, Mike O'Brien scored for us  before a John O'Donovan point and a Dripsey free, made it 1-16 to 1-11 with five minutes left.

Dripsey added two more points to leave just a goal between the sides with time almost up. They had one last chance with a twenty five metre free, but the ball went wide and the ref blew on the puck out.

Timmy Carroll and Kieran Griffin were to the fore front for us while the full back line gave nothing away.

A good result, but plenty to work on. We now face the winners of St. Catherines / Kildorrery in the Quarter final.
