Kealkil, 19:00PM

St. Colum’s 4-4          Barryroe 3-5

It was a beautiful evening for a match in Kealkill. Ciara O’Sullivan opened the first half with a well taken point. This followed with another great point from Grace Tobin who sent it sailing over the bar.  Ciara notched up another point.  Colum’s replied with a goal. Ciara pointed once more. Colum’s replied with a point. Then Eva Scallan Dowd made a superb clearance and found Ciara who was again on target.  Next Andrea Tobin caught a great ball and found Grace Tobin who soloed with speed and rattled the back of the net with a goal.  Naomi Murphy & Sarah O’Regan were stellar in defence and there was some great goalkeeping by Therese McCarthy.  Barryroe led 1-5 to 1-1 at the break.

In the second half, Chloe Collins was next to put her name on the score sheet, a lovely goal which was well set up by Saphira Ruprecht. Colum’s cancelled that out and followed this with a point from play and from a free. Next Aideen O’Riordan cleared the ball & it was Megan Murphy who used to the opportunity to score a great goal.  Jessica McCarthy provided good support in midfield. The Kealkill girls replied with a goal and a point from a free. Barryroe were ahead by one point with 5 minutes to go but then Colum’s found the Barryroe net. The girls made every effort to try and rescue the game but all was in vain when the final whistle blew.

In what was our most exciting game to-date, the girls put in a great team effort despite being narrowly defeated. Afterwards, we enjoyed a nice cup of tea in the Club house to shorten the journey home.
