Kilbrittain, 19:00PM

Kilbrittain 3-7                            Barryroe 5-8

Where to start in this strange game. We started well enough, but inside five minutes, Kilbrittain had a goal. Liam Colbert replied with a point within three minutes, but incredably that was to prove our only score of the half as the home team proceeded to run up a tally of 2-5. Indeed thinks could have been worse with keeper Killian Whelton making a couple of good saves and Michael Whelton getting across to flick away what looked like a certain goal. We looked rusty and unsure and only Cathal Sheehy and Brian O' Donovan were making any progress up front.

So 2-5 to 0-1 down and things not looking good, but within minutes of the re-start, Liam Colbert had the ball in the net. Stephen Holland added a point and when Brian O'Donovan's shot found the net we were only a goal behind, 2-5 to 2-3. Stephen Holland added another point and when Jerome McCarthy goaled, amazingly, we found ourselves a point in front.

On the twenty minute mark, two quick points from the home side saw them creep a point in front. A minute later another point from Liam Colbert brought the sides level again.

The game was won in the next five minutes. Kilbrittain broke through, but Killian Whelton brought off a fine save. We came up the field and Stephen Holland goaled. This was followed almost immediately by a David Murphy goal and we now led by 5-4 to 2-7.

The home side were not finished however and came back for another goal, but it proved to be their final score and we added points from Brian O'Donovan, Eoghan Sheehy and Liam Colbert to leave us seven points clear at the end.

So one point in the first half and five goals and seven points in the second and little or no wind. A strange game indeed.
