On a lovely autumn evening the minor Camogie players of Barryroe and Enniskeane squared off in the West Cork Final and served up an action packed hour of entertainment.

Barryroe were quickly out of the blocks with Rachel Sheehy quickly registering the first point, shortly followed by the game’s first goal. With scores at a premium thanks to some trojan work by the home side rearguard led by captain goalie Caroline McCarthy who was fronted by Roisin Dullea, Mari-Claire Whelton, Aideen O'Riordan, Niamh Whelton, Rebecca McCarthy and Aisling Sheehy. Two further points from the stick of Rachel Sheehy and Hannah Whelton left the home side ahead by the minimum at the short whistle 1-03 to 0-05.

With Kate Whelton and Andrea Tobin dominating midfield the Barryroe forwards of Hannah Whelton, Grace Tobin, Ciara O’Sullivan, Rachel Sheehy and Niamh O’Sullivan continued to battle and breakdown the Enniskeane defence. Their determination paid off in spades and with the game heading into the dying embers, Rebecca McCarthy pointed a free leaving Barryroe the minimum in arrears. Then a moment of magic as Marie Dineen secured possession and stormed through and scored a superb goal to secure a famous victory for Barryroe. Final score Barryroe 2-04 Enniskeane 0-08.
