Ibane Gaels 2-10 Castlehaven 1-07

Ibane Gaels U17 team played Castlehaven in Timoleague on Friday night last. This football league game was originally to be played a month ago but bad weather put paid to that plan. Ibane played with the aid of the breeze in the first half and went in at half time a point to the good, 1-03 to 0-05. The Ibane goalscorer was wing forward Daragh Walsh.

In the second half the wind died down and Ibane played their best football. They tightened up at the back and the Castlehaven forwards were not as well supplied with ball as they had been. This was due to the midfield dominance of Killian O’Donovan and Ronan Coakley. Ibane introduced their only substitute, Diarmuid Dineen and he announced his presence with a smashing goal. Some great free taking by James Crowley and Brian Murphy was also a feature of Ibane’s play. Ibane finished the hour victorious on a 2-10 to 1-07 scoreline.

Team: Danny Lawton, Ben O’Dwyer, Mark O’Sullivan, Donncha Coakley, Adam Barry, Diarmuid McCarthy, Joe Crowley, Killian O’Donovan, Ronan Coakley (0-1), Daragh Walsh (1-1), James Crowley (0-5), Charlie Twomey, Matthew Power, Marcus Kelly, Brian Murphy (0-3). Sub: Diarmuid Dineen (1-0)
