Barryroe welcomed Ballygarvan to Páirc Uí Mhurchú for their opening league fixture of the season. After a promising start which saw Barryroe race out to a 0-05 to 0-02 lead, the home side faded badly and it was Ballygarvan who had recovered to lead 0-08 to 0-06 at the short whistle. The visitors struck for a goal early in the second period and they coasted home 1-19 to 1-09. Ryan O'Donovan getting a late consolation goal for Barryroe.
