Ibane were defeated in their opening game of the round robin U17 Hurling Championship played in Donoughmore last weekend. The home side were the better team on the night and led from trap to line, leading the contest 0-11 to 0-06 at half time. They maintained a cushion throughout the second half and led by five coming down the straight. A late scrambled goal by Jamie Collins gave Ibane hope and a last-ditch attack was repelled to leave the locals victors by 1-17 to 1-15.
