Wild Atlantic Marathon Walk Presentation

16 October, 2018

The total proceeds of the Great Wild Atlantic Marathon Walk held in August amounted to €7,771. Due to the fact that all expenses were covered by our generous sponsors, the entire €7,771 will be presented to Courtmacsherry Lifeboat on Friday the 19th October at 8.30pm in the Lifeboat Station House. Again this year and despite the poor weather, this joint initiative by Barryroe GAA and Courtmacsherry Lifeboat was a tremendous success and there was great help given by so many people on the day. Plans by the organising committee are underway to make this an annual event, with a date of August 10th pencilled in for Walk 2019. Sincere thanks to all those who helped in any way in the organisation of this event and a special thanks to all those locals and visitors, young and old that took part in the walk. The Walk is more than just a fundraising event as it continues the joint approach of the GAA and the RLNI in the countrywide “Respect the Water Campaign” to help prevent drownings in the sea or on inland waters, while at the same time encouraging all to be active through walking. All are welcome to the presentation on Friday night.
