Minor Cup Visits Barryroe

30 September, 2019

Ryan O’Donovan and Jack Lawton brought the Tommy Markham Cup to Barryroe underage training on Saturday morning last on what was a memorable occasion for all those present. After offering their enthralled and excited audience a few tips on fielding (Jack: “make sure you’re underneath the kickout and if you don’t win it, make sure your man doesn’t either”) and goal scoring (Ryan: “just pass it into the bottom corner”) they joined in with the U12s for a game of backs and forwards where, if truth be told, they didn’t have it all their own way.

The lads had a busy couple of days as they had been at underage training in Timoleague earlier that morning and along with teammate Dan Peet (Clonakilty) and selector James McCarthy (Castlehaven) they had brought the cup to the local primary schools the previous day where they got a richly deserved heroes’ welcome. We are deeply grateful to Ryan and Jack (and also Dan and James) for being so generous with their time on both Friday and Saturday. Congratulations once again to both lads (and the entire Cork panel) on their magnificent achievements this season – we are all very proud of you.

Thanks to Danny for pics and report.
