Day two of Parish "Leagues"

21 October, 2013

We had a very enjoyable second weekend of parish league blitzes at Barryroe pitch. This weekend the Under 8 and Under 6 boys and girls enjoyed playing with the 'big ball'. Teams were kitted out in the blue of 'Dublin', red of 'Cork', white of 'Waterford' and green of 'Limerick'. The rain had cleared earlier in the morning allowing mentors to set-up the pitches with goal posts and coned zones. A good crowd of enthusiastic parents gathered on the side-lines eagerly awaiting the sound of the loud hooter that signalled the start of all games. All teams gave it their all for the three games, consisting of two halves of eight minutes. It was wonderful to see both boys and girls playing seamlessly together and the standard of play was very high with some cracking scores, industrious mid-field play and epic defensive battles.
Next week, attention turns back to hurling. All teams are asked to wear their allocated colours. Team sheets are on the Barryroe GAA website and on the GAA noticeboard at Barryroe Co-op. Next weekends games will be followed by a party for the players at the pitch.

Here are some pictures from the morning.
