Wednesday 19 Jul 2017Ibane Minor Hurling - Championship

Bandon, 19:30PM

Ibane Gaels 1-09 Kilbrittain 2-13

Ibane got off to a dream start with 1-01 in the opening minute, but from there to the finish however they were outscored 2-13 to 0-08 which explains why it is Kilbrittain who advance to the semi-final of the Minor A Hurling championship. It was Brian O'Donovan who got the two early scores the goal a cracking drive from the right side. Kilbrittain settled and through frees had the lead down to 1-03 to 0-04 when they scored a goal of their own and by half time they led 1-06 to 1-04, Ibane points coming from Darragh O'Donovan and Micheal Whelton, who cut over a beautiful side line cut. Kilbrittain stretched their lead on the resumption to lead by 3 and this was a lead that Ibane were always chasing. Little by little, the Ibane lads got themselves back into the game with points from Micheal and Darragh. The gap down to the minimum entering the final quater. Kilbrittain replied and from there to the finish they were in complete control and added 1-04 to a single point, with Ibane chasing that elusive goal in the final mintues. This was a disappointing result for Ibane who while beaten by a better team on the night, can't have any complaints about the result, Ibane will have regrets that some of the chances that were created in the opening half were not converted. It is now down to the football side of things for this group with championship v Owen Gaels in a few weeks.
