Barryroe 2-03 St. Colums 5-18

It was a case of déjà vu for the Barryroe under 12s who once again travelled to Kealkil to take on the home side and just like the previous week, had to give way to the better team on the night. Under pressure from the off, Barryroe lost possession all too easily at times and despite the best efforts of backs Brian Sheehy and Michael O’Donovan in particular they trailed at half-time by 1-11 to 1-01, the Barryroe goal coming from team captain Dermot Dineen following a well worked move in attack. There was no let-up in the second half from St. Colums but the Barryroe lads, despite the scoreline and very warm conditions, kept trying to the very end. This was the lads’ seventh and final football league game and they end the campaign with 3 wins and 4 losses. They will play their final hurling league game at home this Thursday night against Western Gaels.
