Ibane Gaels 2-14 Douglas 1-10

Ibane Gaels U16 footballers had a rewarding journey to Macroom on Monday night last when they defeated Douglas in the Premier 1 championship 2-14 to 1-10. They didn’t get off to the best of starts, down 1-04 to 0-01after ten minutes and it seemed that the cityside would be too hot to handle. However, Ibane dusted themselves down and went about their business in their own inimitable way. A converted penalty by Ryan O’Donovan just before half time brought about the fight back that was so badly needed.

They were a changed outfit in the second half and with Ryan contributing a staggering 2-10 with three points from the boot of Adam Mc Sweeney and one from Christopher Walton. They finished very strongly and were deserving winners of a great game of football. They now advance to the semi-final where they await the winners of the Nemo v Glanmire game.
