Wednesday 03 Oct 2018Ibane Minor Football - Final

Dunmanway, 20:00PM

Ibane Gaels 0-07  Clonakilty 1-08

Ibane minor footballers played Clonakilty in the West Cork Minor “A” final at Dunmanway on Wednesday night last under lights. It was a marvellous achievement for this team to reach the final considering the scarcity of players at minor age this season. The few on the age were boosted greatly when joined by the top players from the under 16 team. Clon began eagerly and were three points to the good before Ibane registered their opening point through a Ryan O’Donovan free. Clon continued to mount on the pressure and they registered a further 1-2 before half time. Ibane’s only reply was a converted Ryan O’Donovan free.

Ibane with wind assistance in the second half threw off the shackles and despite an early Clon point they dominated the play and registered five points on the trot to narrow the margin to two points with ten minutes to go. Clonakilty then had their period of dominance and finished strongly with two late points to win by 1-8 to 0-07.

Scorers
