Sunday 23 Sep 2018Ibane U14F 'A' - Final

Newcestown, 18:00PM

Ibane Gaels 0-02 St.Colms 2-13

The Ibane under 14’s won’t have any fond memories of their West Region “A” Football final encounter with St. Colum’s at Newcestown on Sunday night last. They were on the receiving end of a 2-13 to 0-2 defeat.  Credit to the St. Colum’s fifteen, they are a fine side and were deserving winners of this final. Not withstanding that any defeat is painful, even a defeat of that magnitude, positives can also be taken from this match. This Ibane team did not do themselves justice on Sunday night. Everything that can go wrong, did go wrong during the game.  Maybe the rather easy semi-final victory might not have been the best passage to the final for them.  However, the bottom line is that the players on duty gave of their all on the night. There will be days when one comes across a better opponent and one has to cope with that aspect of the game also. On their path to the final the Ibane lads defeated Newcestown and Clonakilty.

Team: Geoffrey Wycherley, Eliott Ager, Sean Ryan, Cormac Mc Carthy, Charlie Dineen, Luke Mc Carthy, Clive Kingston, Cian O’Sullivan (0-1), Adam Crawford (Capt.), Diarmuid O’Sullivan (0-1), Philip Flynn, Olan O’Donovan Barry Walsh, Aidan Walsh, Rohan Powell. Subs: Cillian O’Donovan, Michael Henchion, Ronan Coakley.
