Development 2020

September 2020 saw Nagles Sports Turf undertake the drainage works on the main pitch at Páirc Uí Mhurchú. Using a rubber duck track mini digger they have excavated a perimeter drain to a depth of 650mm and to a width of 300mm. They then placed a 50mm stone bedding at the bottom of trench, this is put in place to facilitate any possible silt build up in the pipe. 150mm land drainage pipe is then inserted into the trench and then backfilling is undertaken with a Shelton stoning cart which fills to the surface with 20mm round washed stone. They then installed over 2km of carrier drains. The carrier drains span across the width of the pitch outside of both side-lines and exit into the perimeter drain. Finally works consisted of constructing 12.5km of a gravel band drain. These drains run 90 degree angles to the carrier drains and run the length of the pitch.
