Dónal Holland R.I.P.

It is with profound sadness that Barryroe GAA Club announces the passing of our current Leas-Runaí (Assistant Secretary), Dónal Holland - a true club legend whose contributions spanned decades. Donal's contributions to his beloved Barryroe GAA Club went far beyond his playing days. At the time of his passing, Dónal was manager of the Ibane Gaels U21 football team and had been a mentor with countless Barryroe and Ibane underage teams over the years. He loved his club, he loved being involved with teams and he particularly loved being around young people and helping them however he could. He was always a very popular figure with those young lads he helped along the way – his was always the first car filled on trips to away games. Dónal was a cool head and shrewd decision-maker on the sideline and a generous and humble man away from it. A loss that will always be felt by the club and all who had the pleasure to know him.
Our sorrow, however, pales into insignificance when compared to that of the Holland family. Our most sincere and heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with Dónal's family, sisters Bríd, Siobhán, Fidelma and Rosarie, his wider family, his wide circle of friends and his past and current teammates.
Reposing in Holland's Funeral Home, Barryroe (P72FY88) Friday, July 25th, from 5 pm to 8 pm followed by prayers at 8 pm. Requiem Mass on Saturday, July 26th, in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, Barryroe (P72 T206) at noon. Donal's requiem mass will be live streamed, please use the following link (https://corklivestream.com/funerals). Burial afterwards in Lislevane Cemetery.
