On a bright and blustery Ahiohill on Sunday last St. James' and Barryroe fought out a titantic struggle in their second group game of this year's championship. The Men from the Mountain were on it from the off rattling the crossbar with their very first attack. They quickly raced into a 1-05 to no score lead, Barryroe abit stunned settled once Adam McSweeney toe poked a goal in the 17th mintue to register The Blues opening score. Further scores quickly followed from Ryan and Olan to leave St. James' leading at the short whistle 1-09 to 1-05.

Olan was quickly to the fray early in the second half to reduce the gap further. Seán Whelton who was outstanding for St. James' nailed a two pointer shortly afterwards to ensure the momentum swung back and forth. Dermot Dineen who again was excellent in the middle third nailed an outstanding two-pointer on 42' which again sparked Barryroe, Ryan on 43' and an Olan major on 45' now saw us take the lead for the first time. Back came St. James' as they landed their own haymaker on 52' with a well worked goal. Again, Barryroe responded with a Ryan two-pointer with the clock ticking into the red for a draw game. The drama wasn't finished as Ryan and Olan worked a short 45 to ensure Barryroe picked up the win. Final score Barryroe 2-15 St. James' 2-14.

This was a game which was a great advert for football in the Carbery division with some great individual and team scores on both sides with plenty of excitement and drama thrown in for good measure. Barryroe currently sit top of the group with two wins and play Kilbrittain next in early September.
