Sunday 22 Sep 2013U18 Camogie - League

Barryroe, 12:00PM

Visitors, Cobh got off to a great start in this League game played on Sunday morning. With fifteen minutes gone, they led by 2-02 to a single Clair Sexton point. On 25 minutes, Clair struck for another point and when five minutes later, Emma Deasy rattled the visitors net, there was just a goal between the sides. The visitors tacked on two more points before the break to leave them ahead 2-04 to 1-02 at the interval. The Barryroe team is  mainly an under 16 team and up against an older side, they struggled a bit early on, but they dug in and with a bit more experience in front of goal, the half time score could have been a lot different.

The second half was not long on when Cobh broke through the centre, but keeper Meabhdh Sexton raced from her line to avert the danger. Emma Deasy and Clair Sexton then added points to bring the score to 1-04 to 2-04, before Cobh snatched another goal. We came back again, with points from Hannah Whelton and Caroline McCarthy.

At 1-06 to 3-04 we were still in the game, but with minutes on the clock, the visitors struck for their fourth goal. We beseiged the visitors goal for the last couple on minutes and though Marie Dineen grabbed a late goal, we could not close the gap.

Still a battling display from a young team.

My ball.

Hannah breaks away.

Racing away.

Claire strikes a fine point.

Tidying up in front of goal.
