Timoleague (Carbery U13 B Final NB CHARGE AT GATE), 15:30PM

Report for U13 Carbery “B” Final game Saturday 12th October @ 3:30pm in Timoleague

Trainer:  Dan O’Dwyer
Result:    Barryroe      2-0   Ballinascarthy   1-1

In what turned out to be a nail biting second half where the tension was unreal at the end, with having to endure 6 minutes of additional time, Barryroe came out victorious to go on to win the Gerard O’Donovan Cup for the second time having won it previously in 2011.
This was a game that could have gone either way but Barryroe bravely defended their lead to win by the narrow margin of 2 points.
The first score of the match came from Bal from a pointed free.  Bal then went on to score a goal.  But Barryroe were not going to lie down.  The ball was passed up the field into the safe hands of Ciara O’Sullivan who burst through the Bal defense line to score a fabulous goal.  Ciara had now the eye for the goal and soon after she scored a second with the help of Chloe Collins.  Both Grace Tobin and Naomi Murphy had good performances in this half, with some great ball control.

The second half turned out to be very tight and despite it being scoreless, the Barryroe girls all put in a huge effort to hold on to their lead. Clodagh Moloney had to make a great save and was supported well by Maeve Whelton who did great defending. Andrea Tobin ran her heart out in mid field and the forward line, including Jessica McCarthy, Megan Murphy and Therese McCarthy put every ounce of energy into finding additional scores but Bal’s defense was strong.
Barryroe helped on by the support of their loyal followers were not to be denied and when the final whistle eventually went, it led to the start of great celebrations.

The Gerard O’Donovan Cup was presented to captain Clodagh Moloney by Eleanor Sheehy. It was appropriate that Grace Tobin who is a grand niece of Gerald O’Donovan was on the winning team.
Many thanks to Ger & Mags O’Brien for providing food and drink refreshments in the  Grange Tavern afterwards.
