Yet another cracking Under 12 game, sees us just pip Bandon.
Conditions were unpleasant as we lined up against Bandon for this hurling game and true to form, these lads, gave us another cracker. Within minutes both the reporter and his notebook were soaked, but that did not take from the action. This is basically an Under 11 team and we were giving away a bit of size and weight to the visitors, who opened well. They went a goal and a point up before Cathal Sheehy and Adam McSweeney had points for the Blues. The town side had another point but this was quickly cancelled out by Ryan O'Donovan. Bandon had another point but scores from Cathal Sheehy and Ryan O'Donovan, left us just a point behind at the break, 0-5 to 1-3.
Minutes after the restart, Adam McSweeney launched a long range effort towards the Bandon goal and with Luke Knowles "distracting" the goalie, the ball ended in the net and we were ahead for the first time. Within the space of a couple of minutes however, Bandon tacked on a goal and two points and with the clock running, we were 1-5 to 2-5 behind. It did not look good at this stage, but this is a never say die team and the last few minutes were played out in a welter of excitement. After a goalmouth scramble, Steven Sweetnam swept home the equalizing goal. With time almost up, we earned a long range and Cathal Sheehy stepped forward to nail the winning score.

There was still time for a last minute Bandon attack,  but we held firm to close out another thrilling Under 12 game.

It was only when I got home I realised just how wet  I was,  but it was worth it.
