Bandon, 12:00PM

Ibane Gaels 4-06 Bandon 5-03

Back to a full squad today. That says a lot for the spirit of this team, after girls playing camogie yesterday that they were back today ready for the next battle. Unfortunately for Megan & Naomi their injuries are still preventing them from playing. With our game plan in place and instructions from the coach off we went again. The wind was strong in the first half but it was nothing like the rain shower that we got in the second half. This was a thrilling game between two very evenly matched sides. With a quick run up the field from Eva in the first few minutes of the game she scored a super goal to get Ibane off to a great start, and she followed that up with a point. Bandon were getting going then and scored 2 quick points before Hannah found the back the net with a fantastic goal. This really boosted the girls and everyone was on their toes, from Sarah in goal to Rachel, Mira & Isobel in the full back line they were super in their clearances and with Chloe, Shona & Caoimhe taking the ball up the field, we were unlucky not to have another goal, when Sineads shot just hit the bar and went wide. Holly too was unlucky not to score from a pass from Rebecca, but it was then Bandon who had a bit of luck and managed to score 2 goals in a few minutes. It was all to play for. First half finished 2-03 – 2-01. Bandon in the lead.

Second half saw our subs of Aoife & Nadia come on for Rebecca & Sarah. Ibane were well fired up and ready to get stuck in with a great point from Sinead after 2 minutes, but Bandon were the ones to score the first goal of the second half. A good pass in from midfield saw Aoife win possession and kick it over the bar, then it was Sineads turn again to get another great point. This kept Ibane in the game even though Bandon went on to score a further 2 goals, Ibane girls fought on through horrible rain. Aoife Hamilton again got the ball and after a few twist and turns got a shot on goal and hit the back of the net. This was the turning point as Ibane put the pressure on and with Ciara, Claire & Eva supplying the ball it was Sineads turn to make a run for it and score another great goal. Whilst the supporters were trying to find shelter from the driving rain, our girls were not finished yet and super points from Eva & Ciara, saw us level the game. It was then Bandons turn to try and sneak a victory, but not with Rachel, Mira & Isobel on the back line, who cleared it out. Final whistle went.  4-06 to 5-03. A super game with great support for both teams.

A huge thank you to all the parents who travelled and ensured the girls were at the games. A break now for a little while and a bit of time to rest the bones and get our injured girls back to full strength.
