Ibane Gaels 3-09 Tadgh MacCarthaigh 3-06

Ibane ladies u16s first match of season against Tadgh McCarthaigh was played on Sunday. An exciting game from the start with the opposition opening the scores with a quick goal. Ibane got stuck in and it was their turn then with Ciara converting a free over the bar.  Tadgh MacCarthaigh replied with another goal. For the next 10 mins it was up to our girls to keep all pressure on and when we got another free Grace got a lovely goal. Great play by our backs Sarah Emma & Chloe Hurley kept them at bay, with some super play by Aideen & Andrea it gave another opportunity to Grace who put it sailing over the bar. It was intense going and with some good passing from Roisin Ciara converted another super point. We traded another few points before the half time break with Leah and Lydia keeping the goalie on her toes,  it was Lydia who scored  a great point. Half time score 1-04 to 2-03 and all to play for. 

We were against the wind in the second half but that didn't deter Eva and Chloe from making some great runs up the field.  It was all Ibane for the first 10 mins with Ciara on a roll putting over 4 points (3 from frees). This really brought on the pressure from Tadgh Maccarthaigh  girls and they responded by scoring 3 points and  a goal. But we always say we are a strong second half team and today proved it as the girls never gave up with subs Sarah Harrington and Chloe Mccarthy coming on it gave us fresh legs up front and between them it was until finally Ciara put it in the goal. A great run from Aideen got ball back up and it was Sarah Harrington who made sure this time  it went in. The girls were really getting stuck in now and with Chloe Collins taking aim she got a super point to put us 2 points up and we could only hope to keep them from scoring. The final score came from Ciara again when she scored another great point. Finally the whistle went. Girls were thrilled to win on their first day out and are ready for the next round.
