Ibane Gaels came out on top in this closely fought U21B football championship game played in Dunmanway. Despite dominating possession in the 1st half Ibane retired leading only 2 points to 1 at half time, scores coming from Darren McCarthy and Daniel O'Driscoll. Ibane were a different side in the second half inspired by their captain Darren McCarthy who scored 2 great points from play and another from Brendan Burke put them 0-05 to 0-01 in front. Back came Muintir Bhaire to reduce the lead to 0-05 to 0-03. Ibane responded with another McCarthy point and the score of the game from Sean O'Donovan put Ibane 4 points to the good, Muintir Bhaire weren't finished and 3 points in a row left the minimum between the teams but a great point from John Whelton put 2 between the teams and ensured that Ibane emerged victorious. This was a great result for this group of players who had only 1 training session prior to this game.
