Barryroe 1-05  Cloughduv 1-02

On one of the finest evenings to date, the girls took on Cloughduv at home. This was non stop go from the minute the sliothar was thrown in, unlike the Cork vs Tipperary game on Sunday,  this was truly a nail biter to the final whistle.

The opposition were quick off the mark and got a goal after 3 minutes, but that was the only goal that we were to concede due to brilliant display from Megan our goalie, who had a great game and kept cool & calm when the pressure was on, duly helped by a great back line of Aine, Sarah  & Claire Dullea. A few minutes late it was our turn to score with a great point from Chloe Collins, and we were quick back in after the puck out with another point from Jessica.

This kept us in the game, while Cloughduv were very strong and quick to get the ball back up to their forwards, Naomi  Claire Tobin & Lauren were running and blocking keeping them from converting their chances to points. It was our turn again on the 12th minute with a super run from Jessica to put it over the bar to bring us level. Cloughduv had a couple of chances and converted one to a point before it was back down to their goal. Great efforts by Eimear & Saphira to get it over the line, but with a great pass over to Jessica, it was she who got the final touch to give us the lead for the first time. As I said at the start, it was non stop, and against the run of play, just before half time Jessica got another great point. Just shows all that target practice at training, is paying off. Half time score 1-04 to 1-01.

Second half was as eventful but scores were scarce. We were lucky to have the slight advantage coming into the second half as only one point each was scored in the second half, this was due to some great defending from our backline and also again by Megan, who more than once got us out of trouble with her super puck out. Our subs, Chlarlene, Holly & Ali all came on and played well. Cloughduv were unlucky not to score a goal as it was cleared from the line. Chloe Collins scored our point from a great run of play, this was followed 5 minutes later by a point from Cloughduv. That was the end of the scores, but until the final whistle went could we give a sigh of relief as the opposition really applied the pressure for the last 15 minutes of play. A super win for our girls. 1-05 to 1-02. Next match away to Courcey Rovers.
