Barryroe 1-12 Ballincollig 3-10

Barryroe bowed out of 2016 championship after losing to Ballincollig in a keenly fought battle played in Bandon on Saturday evening. Two Ballincollig majors saw Barryroe trail at half time by 2-09 to 0-09 and on the resumption they quickly reduced the lead to two points by the eight minute of the second half, the all important goal coming from the stick of Ciaran Hurley after a great burst by Tadhg Harrington. With the clock ticking down and only three minutes of normal time remaining, a Tadgh Harrington 65 broke the scoring lull of nineteen minutes which left the minimum between the sides, the momentum seemingly with Barryroe. But from the resulting restart, Ballincollig quickly moved the ball down the right flank and worked an opening for their danger man, Ian Coughlan who made no mistake from 14 yards.

Barryroe now face into a relegation battle, their opposition to be decided over the coming weeks.
