Ibane Gaels 2-07 Urhan 2-13

Ibane had to give way to a better Urhan team in the Minor Football championship 1st round played in Bantry on Tuesday night last, however it was not until the final minutes that the match was decided when Urhan scored their second goal to put the match beyond doubt. Ibane had put it up to the pre match favourites with a display full of heart and effort and went in level at half time 1-04 to 0-07. Bill Fleming with the goal and this was after losing Full-Back Micheal Whelton with a hand injury after 15 minutes, worse was to follow with Centre Back Dylan Harrington and powerful Midfielder Victor Lovell both coming off with back injuries this meant the spine of the team had been lost as we entered the final 10 minutes. Ibane will regret the goal chances that they missed when they were on top though Darragh O'Donovan had a cracker of a goal in the 2nd half and it was the older Urhan boys who had 10 on the age who finished the match stronger. Ibane have 10 of the starting 15 underage age next year and if they show the spirit that they did on the night won't be too far away from honours next season
