Barryroe 3-01 St. Finbarr's 8-06

Our first game of the season under lights. It was a perfect evening for a game with the pitch in excellent condition and with lights on from the start, it was all go. The Barrs took off and got 2 quick goals before we had got to grips with them.  Great play by all the backs and especially our goalie Holly who not only saved a number of goals but also saved a few  points. Her determination to clear the ball from the line was fantastic and the final score does not reflect the work rate of our backs  - Naomi, Aine, Claire Dullea, Chloe, Lauren & Claire Tobin. Jessica & Roisin were midfield and did really well to get ball to the forwards. We were unlucky on a few occasions when Eimear, Megan and Aishling were doing everything they could but the defense were just too strong and deflected their attempts. Jessica had a great goal 15 minutes in which was followed a super goal after much effort from Eimear. But The Barrs kept taking their scores and managed to score another 2 goals and a few points. From the start of the second half the girls tried to keep the opposition from further scores, with great play also by Ciara, Saphira & Eva but were unlucky as they went onto score another few goals and a few points whilst we kept ourselves in the game with a goal from Jessica. Alison came on in the second half as a sub and did well considering she is the youngest member of the team. It was a good game and the Barryroe girls gave it their all but unfortunately, St. Finbarrs were stronger and ran out worthy winners.
