Courtmacsherry Lifeboat Naming Ceremony

06 September, 2023

On behalf of us all at the Courtmacsherry RNLI Lifeboat Station, attached please find invitation to our Naming ceremony of our new Shannon class All – Weather Lifeboat  “Val Adnams” on Sat 9th Sept at 1.45pm at Pier. Its 28 years since we celebrated with our last Lifeboat arrival in 1995.  It’s very special as the donor Val Adnams (80 and plus) and family are coming from Idahoe in the States for the weekend. Val grew up in Weymouth UK and as a young girl watched the local lifeboat go to sea in all kinds of weather. The following is our programme over the weekend as we welcome our 11th Lifeboat to Courtmacsherry since the arrival of “The Plenty” in 1825.

Fri 8th Sept. 8pm. Pier House Bar. Launch of Micheal Hurley’s book “ Home from the Sea”, the story of Courtmacsherry Lifeboat 1825 – 2023” by renowned marine broadcaster Tom McSweeney.

Sat 9th Sept. 1.45pm. Naming Ceremony of our new Lifeboat “Val Adnams” at Pier by Val Adnams. Refreshments afterwards in Marquee on Pier .

Sun 10th Sept. 12 noon. Courtmacsherry Church. Courtmacsherry Rhythms composed by Courtmacsherry native Maire Ni Dhuibhir and performed by Cantairi Chonamara & Friends.
