Ibane Gaels 3-22 Sliabh Rua 2-25, Sliabh Rua win on penalties

Ibane were involved in a game of high drama in the Semi-Final of the U17 Hurling Championship Shield played in Riverstick. The home team were the better team in the first half and led at half time 0-12 to 2-04, James Crowley and Daire Walsh with the goals.

The game seemed to be heading Ibane's way as time ticked down and led by 3-15 to 0-20 James with his second goal, the locals fought back to draw with a scoring burst of 1-01. Into extra time and at the end of the first period it was Ibane who trailed 2-23 to 3-17, great courage was shown to draw the match at the end of extra time 3-22 to 2-25. It was a game neither team deserved to lose however in the shoot-out Sliabh Rua won by 3 goals to 2.
