Broadstrand Christmas Swim 2023

It's 48 Years ago, since a small group of locals, took to the sea at Broadstrand on Christmas Morning and started the annual tradition that has continued every year since then. A few have never missed the occasion each year whatever the weather. For decades this joined-up venture between Courtmacsherry and Timoleague has raised much-needed funds for the local charities of COPE and Cystic Fibrosis.
Again this year, swimmers will assemble together at 12 noon in picturesque Broadstrand and avail of the courtesy cup of soup or a hot toddy after the dip. One can also swim at any time during the day if they wish. Every single contribution is divided in full between COPE in Clonakilty and the Paediatric Cystic Fibrosis Unit at CUH. We will forever remember one of the shining lights of our Swims, the late Sean Connolly, from Cregane, Timoleague, whose wit and wisdom graced the Wild Atlantic waters at Broadstrand for decades on Christmas Morning.
