Barryroe reached the final of 2013 LEE Flag Club Accreditation Scheme

08 April, 2014

2013 LEE Flag Club Accreditation Scheme.

Barryroe was one of the finalist in the above scheme for 2013. The LEE Flag initiative is designed to point clubs in the direction of coaching and games best practice while rewarding clubs who are achieving in this area.

Clubs are required to meet specific targets through the year as set out by Cork Coaching & Games. The clubs are asked to appoint a Coaching Officer to oversee the implementation of a coaching plan within the club. Clubs were also required to run a Kelloggs GAA Cul Camp and to participate in u 8 and u 10 Monster Blitzes run by Cork Coaching & Games. Clubs were allowed to enter Gold (15 targets), Silver (10 targets) or Bronze (5 targets) with the rewards scheme offering greater rewards to the Gold category winners. Barryroe were finalist in the “Gold” category. All clubs will be presented with a glass plate which they can display at their club grounds to show people they are offering a quality product to children in their communities, similar to the Green Flag Accredited schools, who engage in environmental best practice.

The real benefit of the scheme, is that it entitles the Club to get extra GDA visits to the Club.  It enters the club in  a draw to give another group of Club players a chance to play in CrokePark, so that by the time they get to adulthood, they will be used to playing there.  It gives opportunities to play at half-time in National league games, subsided helmets and hurleys, and priority for Cork player visits for Cul Camps, etc.

Strange but true.

Barryroe played Bandon in the West Cork Junior Football league in Sept 2013 and in April 2014. What was the age difference between the two players that lined out at left corner forward in both matches.

The answer is a staggering 40 Years. Last week it was the highly talented Jack Cahalane who roamed the pitch with ease.... Last Oct it was a certain retired person who while trying hard, would be better off if he just brought a Deck Chair?

Time Flies.
 Jack ????????

Think about it,and it's not me, (way too young).

If anyone elso comes up with some "STRANGE BUT TRUE" stories, we would love to hear from you.
