Barryroe 2-11 (17) St. Columns 3-07 (16)

On a beautiful evening for hurling in Kealkil, Barryroe scraped home by the narrowest of margins in their final league game of the campaign against a home side that probably deserved at least a share of the spoils. Barryroe started the game brightly and but for some wayward shooting and excellent goalkeeping by the Colums netminder would have been further ahead at half-time at which stage they lead by 1-04 to 0-03. The home team thundered into the game at the start of the second half scoring 3-01 without reply to give themselves a commanding six point lead with 15 minutes remaining. Barryroe deserve great credit for fighting back however and with Kelan Casey impressing at half-back and Luke Murphy excelling after switching to centre-forward they finished strongly to win by the narrowest of margins in the end. Many thanks to St. Colums who provided players and mentors on both sides with a well-deserved ice cream after the full-time whistle.
