Ibane Gaels 2-13 Bandon 1-12

Ibane Gaels U16 hurlers took on Bandon in the West Cork A hurling final in a sunny Clonakilty last Wednesday evening. Bandon got off to a dream start with a goal in the first few minutes followed by a couple of points. Ibane settled, got to grips with the game and slotted over a few points from Sean and Fergal Walsh and Philip Flynn. A goal mouth scramble saw Michael Walsh finish the sliothar to the Bandon net. Bandon again took control and tacked on a few scores on the board. Adam Crawford slotted over two great points just before half time to leave a goal between the sides at the break, 1-05 to 1-08 in favour of the Lilywhites.

Ibane started well in the second half but could only come within a point of Bandon. Ross O' Donovan made a couple of great saves in goal and Micheal Holland and Micheal Ryan were outstanding in the full back line. Cian O' Sullivan and Sean Henchion played very well in the half back line. With time running out, Sean Henchion scored a great point from the sideline to level matters. Ibane upped the gears and a great ball into Sean Walsh saw him finish to the net. Ibane added another point to secure a great win. Others who worked hard over the hour were Geoffery Wycherley, Luke McCarthy, Philip Flynn and team captain, Sean O'Riardon, who played a huge part in the 2-13 to 1-12.
