Ibane Gaels 1-13 Mallow 2-13

The Ibane minor panel travelled to Ovens last Wednesday evening to play Mallow in the semi-final of the Premier 2 football championship. On a wet night under lights, Ibane got off to a great start with Cork minor star Ryan O'Donovan kicking some great scores. Mallow stayed in touch with a couple of scores until Cathal Sheehy pounced for a well taken goal. Mallow danger man Eoin Kelleher was a handful for the Ibane backline and was a constant threat. Another few scores from Sean Walsh and Adam McSweeney saw Ibane going in at half time leading 1-10 to 1-07.

Mallow got off to a great start with a goal after a few minutes of the restart. This rocked Ibane and Mallow followed with three more points. Andrew Guinivan, Sean Walsh and the hard working Darragh Holland added points but the goal deficit still remained. James Moloney was solid at full back and Fergal Walsh put in a great hour at centre back. Mallow limited the effect of high fielding Jack Lawton at midfield. Up front good work from Sean O'Riordan, Adam McSweeney, Sean Walsh and some well taken scores from Ryan O'Donovan made an impact, but it wasn’t enough on the night with a final score of Ibane Gaels 1-13 Mallow 2-13.
