Sunday 17 Nov 2019U14 Camogie - County Final

Clonakilty, 13:00PM

Barryroe 6-06 Douglas 4-06

In dry and cold conditions in Clonakilty GAA grounds, Barryroe and Douglas played out a thrilling U14B County League Final on Sunday last. Barryroe played with the wind in the first half and made a quick start with two goals from Ciardha McCarthy and a points from the outstanding Tara Fleming before Douglas registered their first point, and followed that up with a goal. Tackling was teak tough with neither team giving an inch with Holly Collins and her sister Emma supplying great quality ball into the forwards. A key score for Barryroe was a goal from Riona Collins just before half time which gave Barryroe a lead of 4-02 to 2-01. Douglas came back strongly in the second half and soon the advantage was down to four points but two goals from centre forward Esther Scallan Dowd who epitomised the spirit of the team with a series of lung busting runs and three points from Ellen O’Riordan helped Barryroe to a 6-06 to 4-06 win. This was followed by a tour of the parish and welcome refreshments in The Grange Tavern.
