A Year to Be Proud Of for Barryroe Hurlers

While our 2026 Premier Junior Hurling campaign has now come to an end, there can be a huge amount of pride taken from what was a memorable year for Barryroe. After the disappointment of battling relegation last season, the team responded superbly, winning the RedFM Division 7 Hurling League title – our first adult hurling silverware in 19 years – before carrying that momentum into the Premier Junior Championship.

Championship victories over St Finbarr’s and Argideen Rangers secured a place in the knockout stages with a game to spare, before a thrilling 3-19 to 0-26 quarter-final victory over Cloughduv earned Barryroe a place in the county semi-final. Although St Catherine’s ultimately brought the journey to an end, reaching the last four represented tremendous progress and gives everyone involved plenty of encouragement for the future.

A massive thank you must go to all of the players and management team for the commitment, effort and countless hours they have put in throughout the year. Thanks also to everyone behind the scenes who helped the team along the way, and especially to our supporters, who travelled in great numbers and got behind the lads throughout the league and championship campaigns.

A league title, a county semi-final and some unforgettable days along the way – 2026 was a year to be proud of for Barryroe hurling. Thank you to everyone who played their part.
