National School Visits
To celebrate and mark the brilliant achievements in 2026 of our young players across the three Clubs of Ibane Gaels, Ibane Ladies Football & Barryroe Camogie, former past pupils visited Barryroe and Timoleague National schools.
Present on the day were Conrad Murphy and Riley O’Donovan who won Munster and All Ireland glory with the Cork Minor footballers. Dan Connolly, chairman of Ibane Gaels, made a presentation to both of them.
In addition to this we were joined by our local young sports players who were part of teams that had a plethora of trophies on display which included the Cork camogie Minor Munster champions, U16A Cork ladies football Munster champions, U15 Cork camogie All Ireland league champions, U14 ladies football Munster & All Ireland Champions, the Incredible Premier 1 Barryroe Camogie County U15 Féile Champions and All Ireland Feile Finalists, U18 Ibane Ladies West Cork Champions, U15 Ibane ladies football West Cork Champions, U15 Football Féile Shield, U13 Ibane ladies football County Champions, the U13 and U15 Barryroe Camogie Carbery Champions.
Ibane Gaels were represented by players from the U14A West Hurling Champions and the U21A Carbery hurling champions.
Teachers and students in both schools gave a rapturous welcome to all the teams. It was brilliant for the next generation of players to be inspired by these great role model’s who only a few years ago stood in their shoes and as one teacher remarked “If you see it, you can be it”.
A special Thank You for the ongoing encouragement and partnership that the principals and teachers in both schools have in promoting the GAA in our communities, the thankless hours of volunteer coaches that give all our girls and boys the opportunity to learn and develop the skills in a team environment, the parents and grandparents for bringing them to training and matches and encourage them from home and to the girls and boys that live the dream of playing for their club and county.
