Barryroe 1-18 St Catherines 5-19

Barryroe’s impressive Premier Junior Hurling Championship campaign came to an end following a 5-19 to 1-18 semi-final defeat to St Catherine’s in Ballymah. Barryroe produced a strong first-half performance and trailed by just two points, 0-11 to 0-9, at the break, having also been denied a goal by a superb early save. Olan O’Donovan then rattled the crossbar immediately after the restart, but St Catherine’s struck for two quick goals and took control of the contest. Barryroe continued to battle and O’Donovan eventually found the net, but a clinical St Catherine’s side pulled clear to secure their place in the county final. Despite the defeat, reaching the last four represented a very positive championship campaign for Barryroe and gives the side plenty to build on going forward.
