A great game of camogie was played on friday 23rd May against Douglas with Barryroe winning on a scoreline 3-3 v 0-4. A tough match with the wind to our advantage in the first half Barryroe opened the score with a point from Hannah Whelton followed by a great Goal from Ciara O'Sullivan from a pass by Kate Whelton. Then came a point from Rachel Sheehy before Douglas responded with their opening score. The final score of the first half was scored from a 45 by Rachel Sheehy. Our half back of Aisling Sheehy, Sally Smith and Rebecca McCarthy were unpassable throughout the game.
The second half Barryroe were against a stiff wind but this didn't stop our young team and Kate Whelton scoring a goal spurred them on. Our goalie and full back line of Caroline McCarthy, Roisin Dullea, Mari-Claire Whelton and Niamh Whelton defended very well to keep Douglas from scoring. Our final goal came from a free by Rachel Sheehy. Great play was also credited to Niamh O'Sullivan, Aoife Kearney, and Aideen O'Riordan. Andrea Tobin, Hannah Whelton, Rachel Sheehy and Sally Smith were instrumental in the winning of this game for Barryroe against a very strong Douglas team.
