Ibane Gaels defeated Kilmacabea in the Under 16 Football championship played in Ardfield. Ibane playing with the wind in the first half were three points behind after ten minutes. They recovered well to lead 0-7 to 0-6 at half time. Missing two key players through injury and playing against the wind it looked a difficult task for the second half. Mid-way through the half Kilmacabea scored a goal from a penalty and led by six points with ten minutes remaining. However, Ibane dug deep and showing great character scored three goals to win on a score-line of 3-08 to 1-12.
