Our Under 16 Camogie team.

Report for U16 Camogie County League game Saturday 28 March @ 3:15pm in Church Road, Blackrock

Result: Blackrock 2-4 Barryroe 8-8

 

 

The pitch conditions were great but it was a very windy day so players would have to make allowance for this when shooting for scores.

 

The first half opening score came from a point by Blackrock. Barryroe quickly equalised by winning a free which Ciara O’Sullivan converted. Blackrock went on a mini scoring spree scoring a point, followed by a goal. Ciara responded with a point but then the Rockies came back again with a point. Megan Murphy scored a superb goal set up by Kate Whelton. This was quickly followed by two crucial goals, one from Chloe Collins & the other from Ciara. The last score of this half was a point from The Rockies. Half time score was Blackrock 1-4 to Barryroe 3-2. This looked a very healthy position for Barryroe as they had played against the wind.

 

Barryroe dominated the second half with the help of the wind. Grace Tobin opened the scoring with a very accurate point then Kate followed with a goal. Then following another scramble around the square, Grace got the final touch to score the goal. In the best move of the game, Therese McCarthy’s puck out found Eva Scallan Dowd who then quickly passed the ball onto Aideen O’Riordan, kept the ball moving by finding Kate who set it up for Grace to pop it over the bar. Barryroe were now dominating possession and there followed more scores from Ciara who pointed from play & Kate who pointed from a free. Blackrock then responded with a goal. Barryroe were not finished scoring, and soon had goals from Kate & Roisin Dullea. Grace then pointed having been set up by Aoife Kearney. The final scores came from a point by Ciara and a goal by Grace.

 

This was a great overall performance and as well as high scoring, there was great defending from Eva, Maeve & Naomi & Andrea, in midfield who kept the ball moving forward.
